After listening to Angels in Disguise brings me back to those memories, great memories. "I can hardly believe my eyes, He puts on a halo and starts to fly" ... "Take a look at the ordinary, Don’t need to look for Paradise, You could be next to an angel in disguise" Strong lyrics I'd say =/

Valentine's Day draws near, and its all about spilling the cash! I'm leaving it to your imagination :)

Haha okay maybe some of you mite be wondering why I hvnt been updating much. By the way, christmas shopping is very different nowadays and I'm an observer in this case :) There's a lady shopping for clothes and suddenly the saleswoman picks up one hell of an ugly top and asks "chi le lu eh tang cheng beh?"(this one you can wear or not?) The lady knowing her size of course said no, and guess what the saleswoman said? Eh tang cheng la, lu eh size siang wa eh, wa eh tang cheng. eh sui ley. bo pien lu eh. kua ee eh patern, chin sui cheng eh. bo pien lu (can wear la, your size same like my size, i can wear, it's pretty. i dont cheat you wan. look at the patern *pointing to the ugly circles* very nice to wear wan. dont cheat you wan)

HAHA seriously I think this is HILARIOUS :P and unprofessional.

I dont get to be at St. Joseph's Cathedral for christmas, yet another year. Upon reaching there, we were greeted by friendly OTs, as far as I remember; Tammy the cute photographer, the other Ben & a Bro. from Singapore who asked us how we Sarawakians got here. Obviously the answer was "planes" but I was tempted to answer "we rode here on dolphins with our luggages on our backs ..." :)

" Is there any pure breed from Borneo?!?! "

To get everyone to know everyone, we had icebreakers and games after the welcoming, and I noticed that every game, every sharing and every groupings, we were all grouped randomly in order to get to know everyone. And I remember on the first day we were introduced to reflections and the voice of which I only realised that the voice was actually Prita at the end of the convention haha! :) So the second day was all about breaking personal walls and sessions of course includes lots and lots of sharing and one of the most touching stories came from John O. , it was about a boy who had an arguement with his mum about a handphone, all because he bought it himself. His mum took his handphone because he was using it excessively and neglecting his studies.

" It can be a powerful experience. "

He was pissed with his mum and demanded money in return by putting a note by her bedroom door. However his mum came to his room and gave him back his handphone saying that if she had the money, she would give it to him instead of the handphone so he could concentrate on his studies. But instead she gave him back his handphone and telling him that she hopes he studies hard and does not neglect his studies even though he has his handphone back. The arguement ended with his mum giving him a kiss. It was one of those moments where he was just speechless. His mum passed away shortly after. That's as far as I can remember John O.'s story, and I couldn't believe he'd admit that the boy is actually him, he's definitely a tough cookie.

" For them the question is 'will we eat today?' , but for us, the question is 'what will we eat today?' "

There were 3 workshops to choose from, and I had chosen Movement instead of Drama and Mime. Choulyew was with me in Movement. So our speaker, Michael thought us dance moves from the 30's to the 90's and played the pillow game, where you have to use your imagination to do something to the pillow. But the catch is, you are going to do whatever you did to the pillow to the person on your right. I was being used as a camera and i rode Sarveen as a horse, a rodeo :) Phew thank god i knew that coming, or I'd be doing something silly, like someone as far as I remember, he was unzipping and using the pillow as a toilet bowl for shitting and peeing. Not so fancy doing that on the person on your right. Especially if the person on your right is a gal haha! :) Next, free time that day was filled with silly jokes and games, coming from Singapore and Kuching, my my these people have alot of weird stuff going in their heads. Joy was all over the lobby.

" Am I sexyyyy?!?! "

By the way, there was this walking around the LaSalle Centre blindfolded and barefoot with no one to hold. My experience from this blind walk was; I did feel a little fear, having no one to hold on to and not knowing whats ahead of you because you can feel sand on your feet, plants all around you, chairs and tables as obstacles and you never know if there is a drain coming right ahead. But what I learnt is that, in times like these, you need t trust the people around you, those leading you in front if you actually had someone to follow behind, and you need to trust those who tell you what to do and where to go. Well, except those who say "The next obstacle is going to be hard, if you to quite now, you can do so ..." I'm happy I finished the whole walk being blindfolded! :) Later was the Heritage Play,

" ... shota shota! ... my firsth everr chineseh moviee ..."

one of the best plays I have ever seen! Just pure inspiring! :) The next day was all about breaking society walls, reaching out to people in the society. We had to present our exposure trips, so we shared about the one we went in Kampung Stutong. What strucked me most was the fact that it was a pretty run down kampung in the middle of BDC area. I mean, why so run down when everything around it is luxurious, it's like the people there are very much neglected. Okay, even some houses need wooden bridges to get there, and those bridges look like they are about to fall anytime.

" How many of you would invite someone you don't know to your house and let him them sleep with you? "

In the afternoon we had more of Movement, playing about and exploring the body. No, I dont mean exploring the body, body!! I mean exploring different positions of the body, being creative, all these in doing mirroring. Hehe, trust me, this one is fun. But too bad for me cause on that day my creativity wasnt kicking. Next the "Hi LaSalle, Yes LaSalle, Tell LaSalle" game was kinda interesting. We had to say that with the people on our right and left and those who made mistakes will add a dot on their heads. The more mistakes you make, the more dots you have on your forehead, and was definitely laughing at Brandon saying "Yes six dots?" to Jason. Hilarious! I had only one dot. "Hi LaSalle, Yes One Dot, Tell LaSalle." :) And then finally, the workshop presentation. We had to create a story out of a dance, by using the movement of your body. Rather different from Mime and Drama.

" ... they're just ... sexually-imbalanced."

Mime did movements based on the lyrics of their songs, and drama did a little sketch, a sketch whereby the main actor wasnt speaking but instead other people spoke for them. I think the mime with the song "bad day" was the best performance :)

" ... superman kinda thing ... "

Service Learning was next, after all the talks and sessions, it comes down to the real deal. I went to Yayasan somethingsomething Insan Istimewa where the residents were more of a down-syndrome kind of people. I noticed that some of the down-syndrome people were taking the role of an assistant caretaker, who someway or another took care of the rest, eg. send them their lunch plates. One of the hardest part of it was communication, they either speak mandarin, cantonese or they dont speak at all. I was with this old lady who didn't speak a single word, and she gets amused by us taping her hands and swinging it around, and she would just look at you and smile. I did that for about 45 minutes, and I wonder how she gets amused by that for that long, haha.

"AWESOME."

I fed her her lunch next and after that it was time to go back to LaSalle Centre. A LaSallian-Olympic style games were next and we played typical games, I was expecting something better than running with a spoon in my mouth and a pingpong ball in the spoon. Something more like everyone getting from one end to another on a bunch of chairs. Later that evening, Solidarity Lasalliana was something pretty unique, something like a mega-reflection. A reflection where we all read a letter from LaSalle himself.

" Grace is like the wind, those who open the sail only will move forward. "

To me it was a pretty sad letter because we had to think back of the past few days, the stories we heard, the things we've done, and that evening's dinner was a bit different. We ate only plain rice and cabages, alongside a cup of plain water. Different in the sense that we ate yummy meals for the past few days with second helpings.

" This is not the end, this is the begining. "

The meal that evening resembles the meal that most poor people would eat; simple plain rice with salt and another dish, usually some vegetables. What I liked about the meal that it was in pure darkness, we ate under the moonlight in the basketball courts. Next we were brought to a showroom with a video recording, for a real life experience of people by the streets begging you for money, people scared and alone. It does actually get you thinking.

" Ah Czhai! Mummy cook chiken rlice fo yu! "

There was a leaf plate with 3 things on it, lime, sugar and bittergourd. Part of our meal I'd say, and those little things on the plate brought us to the bitter times we had when we argued with loved ones, the bitter sights that we've seen, the sour moments of our lives and the sweet memories that we have encounteted, may it be with friends, family or people you dont even know. A reflection. After that we ate a spoonfull of rice, all of us, from the same pot :)

" FREE HUGS."

Everyone seemed to knew that the 4th day was going to be a memorable day, and I remember people hugging each other and taking photos even before the Cultural Night. It was all mingles throughout that day. So just before the big night, we were putting on our traditional costumes, and unlucky me who hasnt got a cawat to put on. I'd rather be in that compared to being in some ugly, smelly black outfit that didnt even fit me in the first place. I kinda liked Daniel's golden cloth though.

" NO MORE FREE HUGS. 10 CENTS PER HUG. "

And yes, I still rather have my cawat falling off instead of that outfit. Cultural was pretty much filled with everyone dancing all nite, with Varun doing a second shot at his movies. Oh wait, I didnt tell you about his chinese movie he did at the begining of the convention. It was hilarious because of its cheap shot movie, very chinese-like where everything is done with minimal spending of money.

" There's this little boy who asked me to kiss him on the cheek, and that's just what I did ... They just need someone to show them that someone cares. "

His second shot was more of a musical. By the way, the Singaporeans did a very good job on their Pretty Woman song. And getting to join them on the dance floor was pretty amusing and fun! haha! :) Well, so I realised that some of them had actually danced that in a previous occassion, so they thaught the dance to the rest. HILARIOUS DANCE! :)

" I went to St. Xavier's, then to St. Michael's, then to St. Joseph's Kuching, then to St. Joseph's Singapore, then to St. Patrick's, then where did I go next? "

At the end of the nite, everyone was hugging, taking pictures, writing affirmations, playing wasabili in the wee hours of the nite, drinking coffee twice to stay awake, late nite chitchats, and practically no one was asleep until about 5.45am where after that, the lobby was pretty much empty haha :) As the hugging part, I dont think I hugged everyone of them. but I can say I hugged alot of people I dont really know. It's funny to see guys hugging guys in this occassion. I suppose the only reason for guys to be a bit ghay and hug other guys is when they have experiences like these, a once in a lifetime experience. By the way, after that was more dancing and literally dancing in one line circling the room haha! :)

" ... why are we waiting?! why are we waiting?! ... "

Next day, our day was cut short. We Sarawakians had to leave pretty early. It was all tears. Really. I was teary having to leave such an experience like this. Partly because Daniel and Gabriel was hugging each other in tears. And I'd remember Sanjee going ... "c'mon man ..." ... Pretty hilarious thinking about it now. Probably he was one of those who stayed out helping us with the luggages and waving goodbye as we head for the train station. Almost missed the train by the way haha! :) What I've learn? To be more open minded and with that, I'm sure the world needs a little more help. Break Walls, Build Bridges! :)
" And I'll taste every moment, and live it out loud, I know this is the time, this is the time ... "

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5282248787991125378" style="DISPLAY: block; It's basically a group of designers who design casual t-shirts with their main goal of designing t-shirts that appeal to people but at some point rather hard to find in stores and even so, cost a fortune. The idea of it is to sell 3 shirts per design as a limitation to ensure maximum "i got this shirt and you can't find it anywhere" in customers. So expect quirky words, cute designs, different usage of colours and well, basically anything the designers come out with. Gals cut are available :) Enjoy!
THE BLABLACOFFEELLAMA.

CANDY, AND MORE CANDY

COMPARE yourself with someone who lives in a small area and perhaps no means of information about the outside, no media, means no newspapers, television or radio. So, as a requirement as a preparation for National Regional LaSallian Convention in Ipoh, the seven of us went to this not-so-remote school, I'd say a very run down government school in the middle of the city. Who were the students? Little kids who's parents earn a total of average RM500 to RM700 a month. Tough isn't it. Even average incomed people can spend those amount in a week. Imagine these families who spend about half of their income on 5/6 kids in a month.

So we were there lightening up their sad little lives. And no, they weren't even sad. Kids being kids, they were even naughty. I'm not joking, most of them would already know what the middle finger was and probably a handful would understand what the word fuck means.

We begin our day with some ice-breaking, introducing ourselves to the kids and in turn getting to know them. Wasn't that hard because there were less than 24 in a class. Played one of the lamest games with them in my opinion, Simon Says. Okay but really, the kids were very amused. But one thing I noticed about these kids is that they were not willing to learn. Being marginalized in some sort of way and not having enough money most of the time, and they're not willing to learn?? So I noticed this when this little game was supposed to be in English and there was one girl who protested she couldn't understand English, forcing us to play the game using "Pak Cik Simon kata ..." HILARIOUS REALLY :)

Okay we continued with more games and at some point a colouring contest. These kids actually do have a creative mind. There was one kid named Brandon colouring his leaf with a great combination of colour and I think it was great art if it was vectorised or tradionally painted. The final event for them was a pinata. Inside the pinata were more candy and little do they know about that. So when they found out there was alot of candy in the pinata, they were rushing towards it, come to think that these kids perhaps never really had a taste of candy. And I think they looked like refugees. lining up to collect their sweets before they head home, haha!!

Mdm Stella with one of those candy-begging kids who got stuck to her after the colouring haha :)

MINT.

HEHE, I just thought I'd unleash one of the could be Mint. My apologies for the three weeks of you reading the same thing about Singapore, blame it on the exam. Hence no time, no events and all I think about is what to read the next day. Okay that sounded terrible. Well it actually was and I'm here confessing that I've had many crappy days for the last week. So I've been tagged and I usually don't do tags. Why write tags in blogs anyway rite? (my point of view, dont feel criticised :p) Ya ya I'm the hypocrite here because I'm going to post a tag but it won't be like normal tags :)

So the 6 poeple I'd like to tag would be my pals that I've known for the past 9 years or so and currently not seeing them very often. Andre & Martin are in Kuching but its a pretty much so near yet so far thing, I rarely see them around and only God knows if they're still virgins or not. haha! Okay so I havn't seen Ches for a week now because he doesn't sit for exams. So I tag Ches. To be honest, before I thought of who to tag I already realise that none of them are going to write the tag even though I tag them. They just don't write tags :) Neither do I :)

Talk about passion and the 6 things I'm passionate about. Love is something I believe and keep making myself believe that I'm passionate about it. I think love is something very special thing and I believe I do give my love around to people here and there, just that it's not directly and most of the time, they don't even realise it :) Note that I'm writing the word 'believe' in italics beause I might just be in denial. I'm passionate about great movies or shows, may it be a great movie with a great story and great camera angles to complement it, cheesy romance movies or episode after episodes (Grey's Anatomy / Heroes) or animated movies with talking animals. Haha :) Next, I think art is something very unique, especially art that makes people happy :)

The 6 things I say to often would be *^!@(&, ^#*!) and %@)!*. Haha. No actually. I never really notice what I say too often. Perhaps the most obvious would be "Hie", "Byee" and *smile* I prefer actions than words :)

The 6 books that I've read recently. Biological Sciences, Pure Math, Physical Chemistry. Okay really that's what I have been reading recently. Sounds like a nerd, but I wish there was much better books to read. If I track back time, the books would be For One More Day, Reader's Digest and newspapers. Pathetic isn't it.

Songs that I can listen over over again would be songs I hear every nite to de-stress after a long evening. There's definitely 6 songs, but I don't know the title. I listen to untitled songs. And radio (without knowing the title).

The 6 things I learnt in the past year. More like recently tho, that I've learnt to criticise a lot. I tend to criticise the way things are here. e.g people's mentality. I have probably criticised almost half the poeple in my school. I just feel like something's not right in the society. So in another way I believe I've learnt to be more vocal. I've learnt that things doesn't work the hard way. Or in other words, forcing something or forcing someone. Another thing I've learnt is that people change over time, depending on the environment they're in. Lastly, I've learnt that the world is very much fucked up.

SINGAPORE CITY

THE FACT THAT I'M BEING FED WELL Going into Singapore and staying in my aunty's house is like entering some rich zoo. Big plate of lasagna rite on the first nite and dessert would be cakes from Gastronomia Da Paolo. Honestly I never heard of a place like that. A must buy cake, ranging from banana caramel with chocolate cake (real bananas okay), some coffee flavoured and very creamy with biscuit-like base. Okay I realise I'm bad with words when it comes to cakes. But these rich creamy cake arn't cheap at all. $ 8 for a small box and that would be aproximately RM19.52 after conversion. So, next I was fed with japanese curry (big plate okay), and one whole plate of fish. Yeap. Just fish and some potatoes. Don't remember eating that much fish in one meal. By the way, Gastronomia Da Paolo can be found in Paragon, ground floor next to cold storage.

SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX Got to say that Marina Bay street circuit is one of a kind. Porbably the best circuit I have seen. If you were to take still photos of the race, you'd see buildings in the backgrund and it's pretty obvious that it's a street where people drive and walk. Brilliant. Very brilliant. I'm not a fan of grand prix at all. But I happen to be there at the moment, so i watched it live on tv, just to catch all the mistakes and crashes, hehe. It was quit exciting actually to watch Felipe Massa drive off with the fuel nozzle still stuck on the car :p

LAVATORIES It's totally free! Seriously it is. Unlike here, you don't have to pay 20 cents for answering Nature's call. Reminds me of phones. 20 cents per call.

LIFESTYLE Not a single Proton or Perodua if you walk along the streets, maybe just the Woodlands Checkpoint you'd see terrible ugly looking Johorian cars. In contrast, everywhere you would be able to see Porshes, Jaguars, Mercedes', BMWs. As for trains, having travelled in Kuala Lumpur before, the trains here are much more efficient and easier to use. Every train uses one company and it's all using magnetic signals during payments. So are the buses. Talking about lifestyles, I came across many ERPs(Electronic Road Payment) which I didn't realise it was there the last trip. Reminds me of the movie Money Not Enough 2 where Singaporeans were complaining about the ERPs sucking up all their money. Haha. Now I know why, they're rather expensive and there are many on the roads!!

one of the train stations.

ya ya. waiting for the train :p

Money No Enough :p
WOODLANDS CHECKPOINT One thing I noticed about the officers checking at the Woodlands Checkpoint is the difference between Singaporean officers and Malaysian officers. Singaporean officers would demand you to open the car boots and check the bags while Malaysian officers would just let you go upon waving at them. No wonder so many immigrants in Malaysia! Who knows how many people have they smuggled into Malaysia already. Haha.

PIG LININGS Haha. Who knew Puma shoes were made out of pig linings. I wonder why in Malaysia they never tell customers that they are of pig linings. Haha. Im laughing my ass off now and you know why.

HELLOGOODBYE.

IT annoys me when everytime I go into a clothing outlet the salesperson would come rite up to me and just stare at what I'm doing. Like HAHA where did you learn your customer-service-skills. Perhaps you learnt to catch people shoplifting clothes by standing rite next to your customer and following them where ever they go when they're looking at clothes. Maybe a more polite way of treating your customers would be greeting them welcome as they enter, leave them alone to look at beautiful clothes, ask if they need any help and say have a good day as they leave. Instead of walking rite up to them, keeping your mouth shut and looking at every move they do.

Same goes to when I order food in a restaurant or a little cafe. The waiter comes, gives you the menu, then waits there with a pen and notebook. Pathetic. Go away and let people choose what they want to eat, then only come back and get the orders. It's rather annoying I must say when waiters and waitresses do that. It's like they have no professionalism in their work. Honestly I dont know what's wrong with the people here, perhaps they are an education-failure.

MAGNESIUM TRISILICATE

I had gastic today and silly me I had some lime some more, so I had to eat the gastic pill. So someone took the pills and read it, Magnesium Trisilicate, got so confused because it didn't say what the pill was for. Then he looked at the ingedients, read Magnesium Trisilicate, and went "WOW..." Silly person. I had to tell him that magnesium trisilicate is alkaline and that's the only thing you would want to put in your tummy to neutralise those stomach-lining-eating acid.

JO JO, THE GRILL & HER MANY BOYFRIENDS

SECRET GARDEN was suppose to be the venue for Jo Jo and her many boyfriends but these people at Secret Garden don't open so early to take down table bookings for 20. Mind you, it was almost 6.00 pm, these people blew their chance of making a profit perhaps somewhere close to Rm250. So venue was changed to The Grill and poor Choulyew trying to think who's being left out. (20 names not easy to remember). Of course there were suggestions from me, the brillaint.

Ben: Lets just post a notice in Secret Garden telling that the venue has changed to The Grill. So whoever goes to Secret Garden will eventually get the message! :p Or maybe we can just stand outside Secret Garden ...

Haha the consequence of these ideas was most probably going to be the management of Secret Garden yelling their asses at us.

So the party starts and mind you, little boys can get a little kinky on a gal's birthday. I never really thought why.

Edwin: Your meat was fantastic!! *everyone laughs*

Edwin: His meat is mine.
Ben: What do you mean your meat is yours?! Obviously his meat is his.
Someone: Ever heard of sharing??

The Form 4s: Can you pass the meat please?? *showing those kinky smiles*

Haha okay enough about the meat. I can't really recall what everyone was saying in chonological order. Perhaps I'll give you some random short ramblings.

Ches: I MISS MUMMY!!! :(
Ben, Jo Jo, Choulyew: AWW ... *pats head*

Ben: *riding the wooden chair*
Valerie: *suddenly appears* You need a coin ...
Ben: OH YA!! So! Here's a little idea of what goes around comes around on that nite.

FOOD Not the best of foods but my my the venison was among the most yummy dish that nite. It got Johnny eating from two huge plates of venison. In fact, I was actually out of apetite that day and someone should have fed me more.

SETTING Looks dull when setting up the place, but lightened up when the lights are dimmed and different attires of everyone. Surely a Classy & Jazzy feeling, I'm not sure about Cool but the chairs are just ever so ugly looking. It has been like that since forever.

ATTIRES Call them prince and princesses for that nite. Styles of clothes ranges from jeans and plain clothes to tuxidos and pretty dresses. I think those who were in slacks, formal shirt, waiter-like-look-clothes and dresses look the best. Five words: SEXY. HOT. ENGTAU. LENG CHAI. LENG LUI.

PERFORMANCES These bunch of people did a great job actually! Great music, great musicians, great bunch of audience too. Too bad Chester you weren't there or we would have put up a great show too HAHA. Now these performers are too good and probably resemble the asian version of artists. Examples later.

CAMWHORING What can I say, it's the perfect event to camwhore. And indeed almost everyone was camwhoring. It's a thing nowadays.

BONDING SESSIONS Many were in the mood until we were told to stay at our tables! HAHA but how can you not have bonding sessions in events like these? Too much of bonding session I'd say, which includes some exotic dancing, naughty naughty and camwhoring is also considered some sort of a bonding session :p

The nite actually started off with some bonding sessions and performances. So there's this rose placed on every table, whereby a representative from each table has to give the rose to his or her favourite performer. So my friend Maurice didn't know what it was all about and he got so excited about the roses.

Believe it or not, after all the meals and all the awards and all the presentations, thats when the party STARTS!! Take Hero/Heroine for an example; the second version of it was more appealing to me. The first version was more to showing the band playing with a story behind it, which was the boy saving the gal from being robbed and ended with the gal searching the guy. The second had minimal showing of band playing, with more of an incredible love story. Haha Hero/Heroine is not the best example of a 'better' music video. Perhaps Hero/Heroine would be a better one minus the lip singing or even something whimsical like one of the Fall Out Boy video (now I don't remember the title). But it all depends on the song. Something like another so called 'love' or 'love-related' songs should have a video of another incredible love story! Okay enough now about videos, this is what I have been doing the past week:

SATURDAY [ Sleep. Study. Watch Grey's Anatomy. Secondly, catholics/non-malays are too good for this job. The later is a more positive way of putting it. Haha ya so call me someone who speaks without real facts. But then again, my thoughts are most important in this blog and not some freakin facts.

THE PRINCESS

I WOULD like to introduce you t0 the princess, Valerie Song! Those who don't know what Kan'id is, it's a band formed by 13 to 18 year olds of Kelabit decent. I wouldn't say most of them are pure Kelabits, but they are pretty modernized. So these people were one of the highlights for the Rainforest World Music Festival and I didn't catch half of their performance but I can say after the party that it is one of the best groups that performed that night. Those who missed it lucky you because youtube have some videos. The songs:

LEILING/LILING Actually i didn't know that this song was the unofficial anthem of Sarawak. Nothing much you can say about the tune and words because they're all repetition. From their performance that night, the last half of the song would be more catchy which makes you just want to jump to the beat and have fun in the mud. Like dangdut you knw? *says with an accent* Mostly just jumping around to the beat of this song would make you happy.

THE LAST OF THE GREAT WALES A melodious song, perfect for someone in love. Hah. A romantic song you might say. But this song is actually quite catchy with a fast beat. How Kan'id played this song does sound better then Celtic Crossroads but i do not know about the original artists. It's a cover song for your information, but however, great choice of song with deep meaning maybe? I'd say it was one of the best song they sang that night, I particularly liked the main vocal and the saxophone!

THE WORLD YOU LEFT US Another song perfect if you are in a romantic mood, but the lyrics suggest otherwise. The song has nothing to do with romance. An original song, therefore not a cover and because of that you might want to say that the writter has some talent? Yep written by one of the members of Kan'id. Again repetations in the song but it just makes you want to sing along.

PULONG TAOH You might see some resemblance this song has with The World You Left Us, something that makes you sing along. But I can say I like this song better then the other one. Talent? Definitely some here. Pretty modernized for a Kelabit due to the use of guitars, but no sapes. This song feels like a nice song at the moment! One of the good ones.

KU AYU' ANUD APBA' This song didn't actually catch my attention, but there was a bit of fantastic guitaring. Nonetheless credits for playing something less modernized which do actually show some Sarawakian culture.

So links! Everyone wants links!
Leiling/Liling
The Last of the Great Whales
The World You Left Us
Pulong Taoh
Ku Ayu' Anud Apba'

Happy listening!

THE SHORT TALK I

So then i realise that people who bring Malaysian fame to other parts of the world arn't actually that Malaysian. Kan'id for example, most of them eurasians with caucasian decent. They dont look pure Malay, Chinese or Indian you can tell. So does this mean Malaysia has no international talents? Think about it. Take Hannah Tan for instance, a Miss Malaysia once, and she comes from Penang, Kuching and New Zealand decent. Deborah Priya Henry is another example whos mother is pure Irish and her father is a Malaysian from Australia. Now does that tell you how un-Malaysian she is? Another who made it into the global music entertainment, Che'Nelle. A Sabahan as everyone says, but she was actually brought up in Australia and she dont speak the national language. Not forgetting some MTV or Channel [V] VJs who don't actually know about Malaysia. So please! Don't brag how good Malaysia is!

THE SHORT TALK II

So I just came back from playing futsal and someone! someone didn't know i play futsal! Haha. My legs hurt at the moment, had a clash with Andre my man haha but its alright! I'm alright!

RAINFOREST WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL

RAINFEST virgins like me wouldn't know what to expect how the Rainforest World Music Festival would come out to be. I'd say prepare! before you decide to go if you want to have the optimum fun! Here might be some things you'd expect:

1) Hot damsels in bikinis or little clothes
2) People dancing in the rain
3) A crowd of sweaty party animals
4) Exotic funky music you'd never heard before
5) People of all races coming together

Of course these are the normal, you might say 'good' things you'd expect. There are of course, the bad:

1) A few inches of mud if it rains
2) Smokers everywhere
3) Not-so-presentable-guys trying to get lucky with gals
4) Having a hard time getting yourself a room

So I only went for the Saturday night party even though it was three nightes. That morning I was packing and doing so reminded me of someone who brought only one pair of underwear last year. Poor undies. It couldn't take its bath and had to endure being worn by its owner for 3 days. So we drove there and n the way, Martin, Brendan and me had Big Apple donuts!!

THE PRE CONCERT

THE CONCERT

Pictures with captions best describes the whole event I must say. But of course the ones above don't explain much. Now I apoligize for lacking pictures and the ones that I have turn out to be poor quality-ed. So! The ground was enexpectically muddy due to the rain the previous day, or else it'd be grass with some sand. Everyone took off their shoes or flip flops and go party in the mud. If you've been keeping up with music on the radio you would find the music here weird, some in different languages, more precisely their music were styles from all around the world, perhaps some place you never heard before. I did not stay till the very end but all the while i was there, I must say our local music was among the best. By that I meant the group from Sarawak which had a mixture of modern and traditional sounds in their music. Those camwhorin sessions were when the performance was on the treetop stage, far from our location near the main stage. So all in all, it's a good party, great time if you just want to get out of your routines! And those who went, good for you! But those who did not, well there is always next time. TILL NEXT YEAR!!

THE SHORT TALK
"I've been away for only two days and shit like this happens." That's Chester refering to Najib taking over Badawi in 2010 in his blog. I do agree with him. As heard, Najib is a very pro-malay kind of person. Call me a racist. We all are, and the west are worse. So my brother just came back from London, and he commented "Everything is rubbish in Malaysia." Do ponder.

LIKE WTF

IF you were to ask me what pissed me off today, my answer would be: malaysians. Yes malaysians spelled in lower case 'm' because these people do not deserved to be recognized positively. So there's this stationary car waiting to change lane and couldn't because there was another car on it's right and Chester and I happened to be walking in front of it and all of a suddent the driver honked. Like wtf, you cannot move your car and you honk people who cross your path. FUCKIN MALAYSIANS.

This particular event made me remember an incident. Back when I was in Singapore, I saw a pedestrian waiting by the sidewalk to cross the road and there was this car 50 metres away who's driver purposely stop behind the zebra just to let the padestrian cross even though it was his right of way. Now this brings me to another incident in Kuching. Same scenario. Pedestrian by the sidewalk waiting to cross. Now this car was approximately 75 metres away and upon seeing the pedestrian who was trying to cross, the driver honked a good 75 metres causing the pedestrian to terminate his intention. FUCKIN MALAYSIANS.

If you think that's bad take a look at a typical malaysian. A little bump among two cars leaving no scratches on either cars and the malaysian would be getting out of the car, staring at the other driver while calling his/her 'gangs' to come see what happened. Like wtf, it was a little bump and there was no damage. FUCKIN MALAYSIANS. Then again, KL would be worse. Now if you are a road user, you might either see a bus in the middle of the road with 4 or 5 cars behind it honking all the way for it to move or having to see pedestrians having no right at all on the road at all. The later case you will see a car or a taxi honking at a pedestrian so it could move 5 metres forward. Like wtf, you're in a middle of a jam and all you could move is 5 metres forward. So what's wrong with someone crossing in front? FUCKIN MALAYSIANS.

FRIDAY'S OFF

EVERYTIME you think of Fridays you think of weekend. But this Friday is L6B and L6C's CakeFest haha! The idea of having a CakeFest is everyone bringing a little bit of cake enough to feed every hungry mouth, stealing BIO class period, making Pn Jo having to join us whilte just having fun! So everyone brought cake except *looks around* haha! But of course it was compensated right away. Plenty of cakes and not enough people to finish them all:

As I was enjoying my cakes, I met the most VAIN people I have ever met before, in class particularly. *including me* hahahahahHAHA.

Pn Jo must be feeling very crazy today that she made us feed each other cakes!! My support was however, behind the Netherland because of its imperfect team, whereby some were talents and some were unrecognized talents. Spain was a team full of talents, but not all teams with talents win it all. Take the Frech for example. Haha! Anyway, I'd like to awknowledge Guus Hiddink for his genius ways of coaching. He takes on teams with a bunch of unrecognized players and turn them into a big hit after every tournament. Guus in this tournament had brought the Russians all the way into the semi's, just as he did when he brought Korea to the semi's in the 2002 World Cup. That wasn't it of course he did Australia proud by reaching quite far in the 2006 World Cup when no one even thought Australia would even get pass the group stages. So i noticed one thing about Guus. That somehow he is able to beat a team unexpectedly, beating Netherland in the Euro 2008 tournament for instance. So here's the genuis im talking about.

So if you were to bet in any upcoming football tournaments, bet on his guy right here. Don't bet on this guy's team to win every match though, because you'd be losing money. Bet that Guus' team would qualify after the group stages. If you are lucky you can bet all the way until the semi's HAHAHA. But make sure in the semi's don't bet for Guus' team because they won't win HEHE.

EXZA AND THE DRAMA

If you are in school, be thankful. Because when you and your friends go separate ways, you start to miss them and all the fun and wild times back in class. And this will only lead you to what I call, a dramatic reunion. So Five A class of 2007 had ours in EXZA.

Choices of food in Exza wasn't a big one but they had a library of drinks! *exaggerating*

So of course in a class you'd find different personalities from different people. Naughty, sexy, people AFRAID OF SHALOW WATER, beauty pageants, camwhores, shy ones. Lets look at some.

So of course we had a lot of fun. But the dramatic part of the night was actually after the dinner.
1) Someone knocked the back of a parked Camry as he was driving out of the parking space.
2) Someone had been stopped by a police after a stunning show of reversing.
No names are to be mentioned here. The later part of the night was having to migrate from Link to Victoria Arms to the place where the best sio bee is sold. Afterall, the night was expected to be a typical 5A 'funloving-full-of-crazyness-and-easily-getting-into-trouble' event. Credits for Graham and Marcel and those who played a part in planning the night. Till next time!

CURRENTLY

... Biology, Math and Chemistry has been alright. Currently, Biology is a breeze despite having to read 4 thick books. Currently, Math is amazingly fun, but it can be frustrating not being able to solve it. Currently, Chemistry is alright but at times giving me a headache. Currently, General Studies is an ASS which is giving me more stress than Biology, Math or Chemistry. Yes im speaking in English terms here because the malay term DOESN'T SOUND GOOD AT ALL to me. Now MUET is evolving into something like General Studies. WTF.

What's next? EXZA!

CHINESE MAY NOT LOOK CHINESE

So if you were to go to Trinidad and Tobago, you would meet a lot of people like Peter :

Yes, dark complexion, moderately big sized, moderately muscular, in other words; negro, you might say.

So Peter here drives you around in Trinidad and one day you asked him his name.

How come you have chinese name? Upon arriving in KL, I was brought to exotic food outlets! Yes Aunty Natasha and Uncle Mat brought my cousins and me to Hard Rock Café in the city of KL. First impressions were to say it was a bar and a restaurant in the same café. Food was awesome…

1. CARLSBERG!! ANYONE DRINKING CARLSBERG!! FREE EURO 2008 MERCHANDISE!!

CARLSBERG BABES APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE!! Here’s the thing, you have to shake a bucket of Euro 2008 soccer balls. Each balls states what merchandise you would be getting. So there’s this hole in the bucket where only one ball can fall into. A lady sitting in front me of played the game with the Carlsberg babes and got an Adidas Euro 2008 shirt. She was SCREAMING IN JOY!!

Yes they look pretty much like this. But in Carlsberg outfits.

So that night I told Debra J. about the Carlsberg babes…

Ben: Carlsberg babes just entered Hard Rock Café giving out Euro 2008 merchandise!! Blonde Carlsberg babes in mini skirts that is!
Debra: WOW! So are u attracted to them?? Did u play??
Ben: Oh yes, they’re hot!! And no I didn’t play…
Debra: YERRRR!!!! You are attracted!! Yer… you should have played…
Ben: :P

OH DAMN! I should have played. But apparently the game was only for those who were drinking Carlsberg beer…and there I was with my exotic drink! Haha!So over the next few days there was exotic food: Pita bread at Aunty Natasha’s, Japanese food and Vietnamese, etc.

The Campbell Book-Hunting
Since I was in the city of Kuala Lumpur, I decided to search for a Biology book to use as a reference. Jolee calls it the Campbell book with lots of pictures. MPH and Kinokuniya was the spot for my book-hunting. After days of hunting, I found it at Kinokuniya in KLCC…

GUESS WHAT!! … I *PENG!* upon looking at the price! So I told Debra J. that it was RM580 for that book. Apparently she *PENG!* too despite being far away in the island of Labuan! Haha!! (Eugenia is probably going to call me a weak person)

Other than eating at exotic food outlets and going book-hunting, I was traveling in the heart of KL city, and I have to say honestly, I DISLIKE KUALA LUMPUR!! Dirty streets, uncivilized drivers, high crime rate and polluted air make up the reasons why KL is very dislike-able.

The Monbukagankusho Scholarship Placement Test
Overall if was a hard test because the standard is actually pre-university, and its more suitable for students who have completed their pre-university. As for me I have just started pre-university and barely knowing much. It was a great experience though, having to meet Eugenia’s sister, Nicole and another old friend, Ann Marie who were also sitting for the test. And so I had quite a lot of fun ‘shooting!’ in the objective questions :P

Conclusion of my KL trip:
1. Carlsberg babes are gorgeous!!
2. It’s a terrible place to live in!
3. I found out that I wasn’t really the right age to sit for the Monbukagankusho Scholarship placement test.
